I am not a task-master. I believe in trusting people to get the job done. Most people on a team will do the right thing and work very hard … without the boss cracking the whip! However, with that freedom of job execution comes responsibility.

Consider this a friendly reminder … if you are on a team today or are gainfully employed. Be mindful of where & how you spend your time. One common complaint I hear from business owners, executives, and leaders … is how they wish their team/staff would work more efficiently AND be more proactive in avoiding distractions. Meaning, when it comes to getting stuff done or chatting around the water cooler … PUNT the water cooler & get back to work! Don’t get wrapped up in office politics or the latest drama unfolding with that certain person in your office. Stop flirting with that young, hottie receptionist that will only be there for the summer.

You know who you are. Don’t be a slacker – it embarrasses us all. Instead, be diligent in your work and time management … finish early … and THEN … see if those same conversations would take up your time after work.
